Larkhill finally arrived! It ended up being my first event of the season due to bad weather and horses being horses. We arrived at Larkhill in beautiful sunshine, which was a lovely rarity at the moment! It gave us time to sit on the ramp and realise how lucky we are to be involved in the sport of eventing! Shame it didn’t last very long.. I did my Show Jumping in sideways rain, and by that point the temperature had dropped a lot! It almost all went according to plan though with is most important! Chesney was competing in the 100, which was his second ever event in his life. He did a very neat dressage test, for a rather mean 33!! We felt it most definitely deserved at least a 30 or below. He did then produce the most wonderful double clear which is what we wanted most! What a star.. Easy, straight forward and fun. Hunter was in the Novice class. He warmed up really well and was much more grown up for his dressage and then just tightened up in the arena, also gaining a score of 33. We then had to wait for ages in the freezing rain for him to show jump, meaning that the round didn't go exactly to plan, but all can be easily worked on! He was a star XC so all was forgiven!
